If You Are Interested and Committed, No Barrier!!!
More than 500 farmers and extension agents were trained in East Africa, Uganda!
The Agricultural programs director of XtremeIQ, Dr. Bezalem Sinote based in Washington, USA, provided volunteer service to East Africa, Uganda. He was invited by the Catholic Relief (CRS) Services Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) program to provide the volunteer service. Dr. Bezalem wondered, “How?” to provide such a service during this difficult time of COVID. The CRS volunteer coordinator, Chinwe Olisemeka, based in Maryland, USA, convinced Dr. Bezalem, saying, “No worries! the assignment is planned smartly”. Indeed, it was planned so smartly that a local volunteer in Uganda, Dr. Kizito, was ready to work with Dr. Bezalem, who was invited to provide virtual support from the USA. The coordinator connected the two volunteers and provided them with a detailed SOW.
The volunteers used every possible digital means to plan and execute the training, preparing guidelines and training materials. With the virtual support of Dr. Bezalem from the US, Dr. Kizito facilitated and provided the actual training in collaboration with the CRS office in Uganda. As a result, 518 farmers and extension agents were trained on Dairy Health Management in two weeks. If you are interested and committed, no barrier; time zone, culture, or technology gap will not stop you. Just check out farmertofarmer.crs.org. and proof that you can make a difference. #F2F
